I'd like to play video files on my television, as well as have it double as a monitor. I've seen setups where television doubles as a monitor, I'm just curious as to what equipment or cables I'd need to accomplish this as well as what hardware requirements I'd need, like USB ports, A/V ports on the TV etc. Any help is appreciated.
What do I need to connect my PC to my television?nba ballers
The graphics card you mentioned according to the manufacture's website says "Integrated HDTV encoder provides analog TV-output (Component/Composite/S-Video) up to 1080i resolution" which means that you should be able to connect and S-Video cable between your computer and your TV (if you TV has S-Video, if it doesn't you need an S-Video to RCA cable). Did your computer/video card come with a weird squid like attachemnt that was one plug to multiple? If so then the single end can be connected to the port on the graphics card and then you can plug RCA cables into it and into your TV. Just a few optiond depending on what you've got or need to think about getting/finding. That's just the video.
For the sound, you may want to continue to your your computer's speakers (if they are good and close enough) or you may want to use the TV speakers. If using the TV speakers you will probably need to use a mini stereo to RCA jacks (assuming your sound is RCA jacks). You will want to unplug the computer speaker wire from the port on the back of your computer and plug in the new cord leading to the TV. If you have a multi wire/speaker set-up you can use the headphones jack to avoid only getting the center sound or a different part. (To make this perminent you can use a splitter to plug the two incoming wires(jacks) into the splitter and then that single joint into the computer so you don't have to change them all the time.
If I confused you please let me know and I can try to clarify.
