How do i now if my PC Power supply is able to run a new graphics card?

I've got a Pavilion 7970 which i believe has a 200W power supply! I've added a new sound card, tv tunner card, usb port card, second hard drive and a dvd writer, now i looking to upgrade the graphics card.

Several reviews say the cards draw loads of power e.g GeForce 7600 , Radeon 9600.

Can any one advise me on a suitable graphics card for gaming with my existing power supply or if i can simply upgrade my power supply, i.e. is it iterchangable with other off the shelf models.

How do i now if my PC Power supply is able to run a new graphics card?nba finals 2007

Power supplies are pretty similar. There are a few things to look at depending on how 'hardcore' you wanna go. 1st off is the pin connector that connects the power supply to your motherboard. See what it is on your HP. Nowadays most power supplies use 24 pin. Older systems were 20 pin. There are some that are 20+4 pin (ie. will work with either motherboard configuration). Next is whether or not the cables that the power supply has meet your needs. SATA connectors, PCIe connectors, and so on. Alot of people feel that dual 12v rails make it more stable for a gaming rig, but that is a matter for you to research. Also to consider is active PFC. (Basically it smooths out your house current to make it flow into the computer all the same without any surges or bumps.)

Wattage :) Here is the beef of the question. I have a 540 watt supply running my system. AMD Athelon 4000, 2 250 gb SATA2 drives, 2 DVD burners, a few fans, and a geForce 7600. Never had problems with the supply. eVGA recommends 350 watts for the card I have. More if you want to SLI (run 2 cards together if your motherboard is capable of it.)

So I can't recommend using that supply for any gaming card today, but its not too pricy to upgrade to a stronger power supply unit.

How do i now if my PC Power supply is able to run a new graphics card?www.nba.com ,nba teams

the best solution is to check on the manufacturer`s web site for compatibilities ,as you mentioned you have installed or added many cards to your pc so you have to upgrade the power supply
Without looking into the details of what you described my gut reaction is that I'm surprised that the system is still working with a 200 watt power supply! I would upgrade the power supply right away 450 or 500 watts. It is the cheepest upgrade you will have done and will insure the stability and preservation of all the other things you've done.

you have to activate your second monitor. on most laptops the button is (function) (F5). It is the one labled CRT/LCD or such, maybe (a picture of a tv screen)/(a picture of a computer screen). if that doesnt work you can right click your desktop, go to properties, settings tab. it should have a picture of 2 screens, one labled 1, the other labled 2. double click the one labled 2 to activate it. this will make your tv an extension of your desktop so you will have to drag programs off the right side(or top, bottom, or left) to view them on the tv.

JUST LOOK FOR SYSTEM WITH AN ASUS MOTHERBOARD, NVIDIA VIDEO CARD, AND AN ATHLON 64 X2 OR FX PROCESSOR
It's horses for courses.

- If your activites are heavily graphics orientated (graphics design, CAD/CAM, etc) go for a MAC

- If your activites are mostly gaming, go for as much memory, biggest graphics card and diskspace as you can afford with a quad core processor.

- If all you want to do is write the occasional letter and download emails, then go for the cheapest system you can find.

- If you are a programmer, then go for 1-2GB memory, as much diskspace (internal and external) that you can afford.

Always consider getting a large external drive to use for backing up your PC/MAC

As for processors, my preference is for AMD as they are much more reliable and more flexible than Intel, but others swear by Intel, and the quad core is attractive.

Decide exactly what you want to use the computer for, and what you might want to use it for over the next 3 years, then read up all you can on the different configurations before making your mind up.

Often it is your available budge that will determine the configuration you end up with as the compromise between what you would like to have and what you can afford.

Are the Mac TV commercials telling the truth? Mac computers do not catch computer viruses like regul

There are far fewer viruses for the mac then the PC. This is for two reasons:

1: Mac computers control less then 10% of the computer industry, so it is kind of a waste to create a virus for such a small industry and

2: Microsoft Windows is much less secure then mac. With a PC, you need a firewall, anti-virus, and several anti-spyware programs. I've never seen any of that stuff on the macs and the school I used to go to, but the PCs all had it.

Are the Mac TV commercials telling the truth? Mac computers do not catch computer viruses like regular PC?nba graphics

compared to windows PCs, Macs catch NO WHERE near as many viruses.

1 virus for Macs was recently discovered but to get it u needed 2 go 2 a dodgy website, register 2 a dodgy thing, download a dodgy file and install a dodgy program. a little common sense will save u from viruses with Macs.

10s *if not 100s* of viruses are found EVERY day.

the other reason there r few is cuz the script 4 Macs is constantly altering and its impossible 2 havea virus that sustains all versions. plus, unlike Windows, they dont do anytin. Itll bring up an annoying pop up or sumtin, unlike Windows where it deletes files or reformats ur HD.

there r a few, but VERY few!

yes there right 15 years and many macs running no real problems ...one windows laptop and nothing but problems it just sits on a shellf now everyone got the new g4 laptops ...

i think micosoft builds in the problems ...so it can charge for all the virus programms
I had a Mac for 4 years and no security system and it never got a virus.
Mac ads are biased. While there aren't nearly as many viruses or bad things for macs, they do exist.
Macs do have security holes. They have to fix them from time to time. The main reason that the virus writers don't write as many MACs viruses is that they as so few of them in the world and they can get more bang for the buck on Windows machines.
True, but if a MAC breaks down for another reason, then instead of fixing it yourself, you have to hire a guy who works for Apple to come and fix it, which is a big inconvenience, also MAC's are much, much more expensive.
It is true, though I can't fully explain why. Neither myself nor anyone I know who uses a MAC (lots) have ever been been affected by a virus. Could it be that there are simply fewer MACs in use than PC's, and virus writers go after the big game? I really don't know.
There is not enough macs for anyone to spend time making a viruse for them. 90% of computers are PCs. There was a guy who made a trojan just to prove mac are unsecure
From my 20+ years of experience with Mac -- yes! We have never had a problem with viruses at my house. Okay, we also use the firewalls available, and we don't use MS apps, like Office, or Outlook. I don't visit questionable websites, I block popups, I disable html and graphics in my mail, and I don't open mail from people I don't know, and I don't accept attachments uless I know what it is.

Most of the mac virus issues my friends have dealt with over the years had something to do with Outlook, or an IM program. (I don't use those either.) If viruses are a real problem for you, you might really enjoy a mac -- because in our experience, they aren't as likely to get viruses and malware infections.
There are VERY few virsus for Mac computers, and since Mac OS X is not compatable with Windows, Macs don't get Windows virsus. The likelyhood of getting a Mac virus is very low compared to getting a PC virus.

You should still have a firewall of some sort protecting your network or your computer because there are Mac virsus, and Macs are not hack proof.
thats true but it is true cuz mac isnt as popular as windows so hackers dosent focus on macs and ther are less programs for mac so that reduces the probability of downloading program with virus (mac sucks) but if u like the mac pc look u coul download an enchance program and make ur windows look as a mac
no, they're utter BS.

the only reason there aren't more viruses on Macs is because there are less Mac users - why would a hacker waste his time trying to infect a few thousand, when he could infect millions using Windows based PC's?

I hate those commercials - they're trying to sell people on style, over substance. They just try to take every common misconception people have about computers, and use that to sell a few extra Macs.
That is correct, for two reasons:

1. There are far fewer Macs (5 percent market share) so virus writers don't bother making them and

2. The system is more secure because a master password must be entered before a program is installed.
Additionaly, PC's are just as capable of playing movies and songs as Macs. PC's are usually outfitted with the right software to do those out of the box, just like Macs. Additionaly, PCs have more space for additional hardware (such as graphics cards and extra RAM) than a Mac does. There is a sacrifice to be made for size when it comes to computers.

Macs don't catch as many viruses simply because why go through the trouble of making them? It's a long wait for a train don't come.

I am pretty sure that you would need a multimedia video card. I am pretty sure NVidia makes one that has not only Tv Out but Video in as well. If not RCA then Co-axel. In that case you would need an RF Modulater That you would plug the RCA jacks of your X-Box into and from there a regular Television Cable to run to the Video in of your Video Card. That would be the only set up I can think of for using your monitor to play games. Know that the video card you would need will run somewhere in the range of $250-$400 dollars so you have to weigh if it is really worth it. Unless you find it on Ebay.

What uses more electricity a laptop or a 14inch tv?

we had a high electricity bill and my dad thinks my laptop is to blame? could h be right, do laptops use much electricity or do pc's use more? wud it be worth unplugging completely when not using?

What uses more electricity a laptop or a 14inch tv?knicks

Most products will have the power consumption detailed somewhere on the model label.

I'd expect a 14" TV to take somewhere around 30W, possibly up to 60W. For example, my 14" Sony Trinitron CRT TV takes 47W.

I doubt your laptop uses more than a 14" TV, but I bet a desktop PC (with a fast processor and a couple of hard drives inside it) will use the same or more than a 14" TV.

So, my educated guess, in order of lowest consumption first:

laptop

14" TV (assuming its CRT and not LCD)

large / fast desktop PC

You can buy power meters than connect inline with the appliance you want to measure, and get the exact figure in Watts of how much power it's actually consuming.

http://www.reuk.co.uk/Kill-a-Watt.htm

This sort of device would give you exactly the answer you need.

What uses more electricity a laptop or a 14inch tv?sports ,nba teams

Both maybe close (30 to 70watts) but to check read the Wattage off the back of both. Your house meter(bill) is in Watts

If the Wattage is not listed use formula: Wattage=Volts *Amperage

Note: Amperage may read as mA which is milliAmp so if the adapter to the laptop reads as 500mA it equals .5A

if its 500mA then the unit roughly uses 60w=120v*.5A

a 14inch TV should use less power then a 60watt light bulb so if maybe get your dad to install differant light bulbs and turn out light when leaving a room.

Some laptops can be beasts though and if its close to a desktop you could be looking at a few hundred watts
The TV probably does. The laptop is designed to operate on batteries, so it optimizes its use of electricity as much as possible.

Try this - look at your electric meter. If the wheel on it is spinning fairly rapidly, you can figure out what circuit is using the most power. Have someone at the breaker panel turn off one circuit at a time until the wheel suddenly slows down. Odds are, that circuit had the heaviest load on it. Now figure out what loads are on that circuit. What room suddenly lost lights? Did the furnace or water pump suddenly quit? Did an electric heater shut off? That's your clue.

And electric heaters are some of the worst offenders, by the way. This includes water heaters and electric stoves, ranges, etc.

PS: Make sure you turn off all computers before you do this. They really don't like losing power unexpectedly like this!
PCs use more power than laptops, laptops are generally low power usage devices when unplugged, but when plugged in can consume as much as a desktop, but rarely more. Anything that is plugged into an outlet can use power, even if the device does not seem to be on. When you're not using the laptop, you can hibernate it and unplug it to reduce power consumption.
Your laptop uses about the same as a 60 to 100 watt light bulb when switched on.

When not switched on but the power supply plugged in it only uses a fraction of that.

If you were on it all day say 8 hours it would use less than one unit ot electricity say about 10 pence (UK)

So I don't think it is you running up the bill.

Can I use a long Cat5 Ethernet wire cable with RJ45 connectors to connect my PC to a docking station

The docking station will be in another room and I'll use RJ45 to USB connectors to connect the docking station to the cable and on the other end to the computer. The point of all this effort is to put the very noisy computer in another room while we watch TV. The ethernet cable is already in the wall from when the house was wired for a network but it was never meant for this. What do you experts think?

I would get the noise checked out it may be a cooling fan getting ready to fail. If you overheat it will get real quiet (stop working alltogether)

What would be the equivalent size of a full screen 32" flat tube TV if upgrading to an LCD wide

they measure tv sizes diagnally across the screen so a 32" widescreen would have a smaller picture than what I have now when viewing regular TV. I don't want to go smaller. I want to upgrade for the widescreen aspect on movies and my video consoles. My kids and I only sit about 5-6 feet away so I don't want to go any bigger than what we have now.

I am going with LCD because Plasma's will burn (I am also building a home theater PC). I like the DLPs but the 1080 interlaced would probably make the text on my pc blurry (and I live in a 2nd floor apartment - I don't even want to think about lugging something that big upstairs)

What would be the equivalent size of a full screen 32" flat tube TV if upgrading to an LCD widescreen?nba gear

Your present 32" conventional flat TV is more or less equivalent to 37" wide screen. Which means that buying an LCD TV with a size of 37" will somewhat give you the same viewing size as your present TV, except that it is wide screen, but still you will not enjoy.

I recommend a 42" LCD TV which is a wiser upgrade for better viewing pleasure. At 5 to 6 ft away from the TV, any screen larger than 42' will certainly cause eye strain.

No, you won't be able to do it through a USB2 port directly, but you could get a USB TV Card which would stop you having to get an internal card installed. Hauppage do a few different ones. Not too pricey either.
more than likely you are going to need a tv card. but one thing you can try is to check your local radio shack and see if they have an adapter that will run from a coax to a usb. with drivers, you should be able to pick up a signal from whatever device you are using.

there is definitly a recorder out on the market that will do that though. it records from video tape and puts it on a disk. this should run you about a couple of hundred dollars at max. my wife saw one once for 99 dollars (although I didn't get it.)

one other alternative is, while the picture is still pretty good on the original video tapes, you might want to go on and transf them to other video tapes, and view them from the copies instead of the originals. that way you save your originals.

one last thing though; if you have a desk top available, you can get your tv card for it, if there is none available for your brand of laptop, and you can get alohabob sw to tranfer the file to your laptop for writing...

but you do have many options to accomplish that.

The graphics card you mentioned according to the manufacture's website says "Integrated HDTV encoder provides analog TV-output (Component/Composite/S-Video) up to 1080i resolution" which means that you should be able to connect and S-Video cable between your computer and your TV (if you TV has S-Video, if it doesn't you need an S-Video to RCA cable). Did your computer/video card come with a weird squid like attachemnt that was one plug to multiple? If so then the single end can be connected to the port on the graphics card and then you can plug RCA cables into it and into your TV. Just a few optiond depending on what you've got or need to think about getting/finding. That's just the video.

For the sound, you may want to continue to your your computer's speakers (if they are good and close enough) or you may want to use the TV speakers. If using the TV speakers you will probably need to use a mini stereo to RCA jacks (assuming your sound is RCA jacks). You will want to unplug the computer speaker wire from the port on the back of your computer and plug in the new cord leading to the TV. If you have a multi wire/speaker set-up you can use the headphones jack to avoid only getting the center sound or a different part. (To make this perminent you can use a splitter to plug the two incoming wires(jacks) into the splitter and then that single joint into the computer so you don't have to change them all the time.

Other than that, it's not lacking but it has too many things, that you probably don't need for the office, such as video players, digital card readers etc.

Mixed feelings as to whether u should keep it or not. If you bought it for cheap, it's probably worth keeping. Otherwise I would say return it, because the overload of un-needed programs can slow the computer down when the resources can be used to run other more important office applications. The other option is to keep it and uninstall all irrelevant programs, but then again why pay for it when u're not going to use them.

What are the best components on buying a PC?

My brother wants to buy a new PC and we are from the Philippines.I think he wants to assemble it as gaming PC or can be a little bit of home PC. :pThus, what i mean by the best or top %26lt;component%26gt; is that it is not really a good one to make up a gaming PC, but also a good one for home PC.if you don't understand, we want to make our PC a "multi-purpose",we will install some good games in it and also use it just like being a home PC.:D

What are the best components on buying a PC?nba news

Hi Cloud,

Your PC specs still depends on what type of "good games" you'd like to install in your future PC. I recommend that you check first the minimum requirements of your desired PC game/s. I'll be providing a generic specifications for a gaming and home PC. These info should satisfy your needs:

Processor: Any Intel Dual Core or Athlon 64 processor will do

Motherboard: Any motherboard should do. But the type of RAM, HD (hard disk), and Video Card depends on the motherboard. Just be sure that when you buy these 3 devices, they're compatible to your motherboard. I recommend that you buy a motherboard that supports SATA HDs and PCI-E video cards. These are "new" technologies that are more efficient than the older technologies (i.e., SATA is better than PATA, same goes with PCI-E over AGP).

RAM: 512Mb should be good enough

HD: choose the SATA 80Gb

Video Card: 128Mb - 256Mb should be good enough

And by the way, go for the LCD if your budget still allows you

Just don't hesitate to ask for help from the computer shop's sales staff. Additionally, let them assemble the PC for you to check if it's really working before you bring it to your house.

Best processor or top processors: Intel Core2 Duo(Up to you to decide what you want)

Best motherboard or top motherboards: Intel(depends what you want)

Best video card or top video cards: Nvida GeForce(depends)

Which is a better monitor: A LCD one if you have the money, however this one Looks Pretty good http://www.necdisplay.com/Products/Store...

Best operating system- Wait For Vista Service Pack 1
It all depends on what OS you put on it. If you put XP or Vista on it you will need a lot of power because the code is so bloated and full of junk like programs that spy on you. PCLinuxOS runs clean and fast. You don't need any more than this to run it http://nixedblog.thenixedreport.com/?p=9...
I would make sure a hard drive with at least 150gb+, seeing as how games take a lot of memory (most in the 2-7 gb range).

As for the video card, good games will obviously require more video memory. I'd recommend a 512mb card with pixel4 shader capabilities and s-video optionally, if he wants to play his games on a tv! :)

I'd also get 1-1.5 gb RAM (possibly 2 if needed). As somebody already noted, a duo-core processor would be great for gaming.

Here's a great site for customizing your own gaming computers, they actually have an online program where you can custom build it, and it updates the price every time you change a component!

http://www.ibuypower.com

They also have computers with up to 4 gb of RAM! But you need a 64-bit operating system to have 4 gb of RAM I hear, so let's not get into that.

Hope you find this information helpful.

How do I force my ATi Radeon 9600XT card to display on the TV at 50 hz?

I recently installed a ATi Radeon 9600XT graphics card in my PC with the intent of using its TV-OUT to watch films and stuff on my TV, but I only have a PAL-i 50hz TV. The graphics card thinks that the TV can handle 60hz and defaults to that, without (seemingly) any way of changing it. This results in a nice B/W image on the TV, which isn't much good. Anyone know how I can force a 50hz signal on the S-Video out of the card?

How do I force my ATi Radeon 9600XT card to display on the TV at 50 hz?golf

PAL I standard is 625 lines at 50 Hz, so that is what should be supplied via the S-Video connection. I believe that the problem is usually old TVs/VCRs which are not compatible with S-Video, or NTSC output selected for the graphics card, instead of PAL.

My PCs could not display colour on old TVs via S-Video, but did on new ones. In one case, the graphics card had a video out RCA type socket. This produced colour via a SCART adapter. My latest Radeon X800XL has a S-Video to RCA Composite adapter cable which, I suppose, would work via that SCART or in a TV with RCA video socket.

I don't think its because of the refresh rate.

Look into the S-Video connector in your S-Video cable. How many pins do you see? Then look into the S-Video port on your graphics, how many holes are there?

I also have an ATi card (Mobility Radeon X700), which has a 7 pin S-Video port. I tried using the 4 pin S-Video cable I got with my older NVidia card. The same BW image.

So what you need to do, is buy the right cable.
I think it will still work. The difference is only in reftresh rate !!!!

on the xilisoft application, select profile and select the appropriate ipod.

step 6.

click on the dvd button on the xilisoft screen and select your dvd drive as the source.

step 7.

select the destination by picking which folder you would like to save the video to.

step 8.

once all the information has been gathered from your dvd, click the red record button to start ripping the dvd. this will take several hours because it must also convert the files to mpeg4 format.

step 9.

once the dvd has been ripped, open the folder you set as the destination and select the files you wish to put onto your ipod, you may want to preview these files first by playing them with quicktime.

step 10.

drag and drop the selected video files into your itunes library or use itunes to add the files to your library.

Is there A way to pull a show off of my TiVo box and transfer it directly onto my PC?

Is there A way to pull a show off of my TiVo box and transfer it directly onto my PC?nba playoff bracket

There is a way to Legally Modify (Hack) your DirecTV Tivo (unless it is the R10 Model). It is actually a VERY EASY Upgrade if you have just a LITTLE experience with Computers.

Once the DirecTivo is modified you can then network it to your homes wired/wireless network. Then you can transfer the shows/movies to a networked PC. Then you can edit and burn the shows/movies to DVD. If you would like to do this then read on, I will post quite a bit of info with links for the necessary Software and How To's.

Unfortunately the shows/movies you already have saved on the DirecTivo cannot be transfered this way even after it is modified. the reason this is the case is that DirecTV Encrypts its Digital Signals, so when your DirecTivo is saving the show/movie to the Hard drive it is encrypted. You can transfer the shows in real time to your PC though. To do this you will need a TV Tuner Capture Card for your PC (For a desktop use a PCI TV Tuner Capture Card, for a Laptop use a PCMCIA TV Tuner Capture Card). This will allow you to connect the DirecTivo to your PCs Capture card via Coaxial, RCA Audio/Video Cables, or S-Video and RCA Audio Cables. Then you will press PLAY on the DirecTivo and Record on the Capture Cards Software. Like I said this will record in real time, so a 2 hour movie will take 2 hours to transfer. Once it is saved on your PCs hard drive you can then edit the show/movie then burn it to DVD.

First check out site #1 it has forums that explain how to hack your DirecTV Tivo and Tivo brand Tivo's so that you have Networking abilities on your D Tivo which allow MRV (multiroom Viewing if you have more than one D Tivo), HMO (Home media Option) which allows you to have a PC connected to your home network that can be used as a server for your MP3's and Pictures to be shown on your D Tivo. Once you hack the unit/s (HAS TO BE A SERIES 1 OR SERIES 2 DirecTV Tivo or Series 1 and Series 2 Tivo) you can apply some programs so that you can download the shows/movies from the decrypted programs stored on your D Tivo onto a PC for veiwing/Burning onto a DVD. If you have more questions I can give you alot more details if you email me. I have used these site below to aid me in Hacking 5 DirecTV Tivos (Qty2-SD-DVR40, HDVR2,Qty2- DSR704). I have HMO, MRV, can access over the internet with gotomydvr.com, can download shows/movies from all the units.

Site #2 is where you purchase the software necessary to upgrade the D Tivo, look for either their kits or if you want to upgrade yourself look at InstantCake 3.1 or 6.2, PTVnet, Slicer. (InstantCake is the operating system/ software displays you see on the screen, PTVnet is the software to boot the ISO disk you download onto your PC when you connect a NEW harddrive and it enables the USB ports and allows networking, The Slicer lets you get/receive upgrade from DirecTV without losing all your previous hacks upon software upgrades.)

#3 is a forum to get the other necessary software patches to allow you to decrypt the DirecTV signal before it is stored onto the D Tivos harddrive. And a patch to allow downloads of the shows/movies from the D Tivo. (Superpatch-67all-nutkase, and superpatch-62a, Tytool 10R4, and others)

#4 a forum on HOW TO and questions and answers

#5 a GREAT display of instruction with pics on how to remove the hard drive form the Tivo unit and install all the hacks)

#4 http://www.tivocommunity.com

I would like to be able to use my tv as a PC monitor, how do I know if it will work as one?

I want to get an LCD or a Plasma TV...which is better and what should I get...I dont want to spend over 1000?

There are a couple of things to consider. One is size. The two texhnologies are targeted at different size ranges. Mid size and up will be plasma while mid size and down will be LCD. But there is even a question of which, then you must be looking at mid sized TVs 30-42 inch. I'm not sure what is the smallest plasma available or largest LCD available. Each has it's pluses and minuses and you will have to decide which are most important to you. Generally plasma will have more vibrant images wihile LCD has longer life and consumes less energy. There are also a wide variety of features available (inputs, outputs, tuners, accessories, etc.) and again you will have to decide which are most important to you. Since you want to use it as a PC monitor, you will want HDMI input. You can connect a video card with DVI output for best results (you will need a DVI to HDMI adapter - as a side note, HDMI is the same signal as DVI but includes audio and uses a different connector). Some sets also have VGA inputs but HDMI is better (all digital) than VGA (which unneccessarily introduces analog degradation into the signal path). Also 1080p sets will potentially be the best picture capability (higher resolution) - obviously it will depend on the source media. For a PC monitor, you will want this. If price is more important that thinest package, DLP (Mitsubishi, Samsung) or rear projection LCD (Sony) may be good values. There are a lot of good values out there in all of the available technologies now and the most important thing is that whatever you get meets your particular needs.

Well, first things first, most modern computers can play DVDs and some can act as a cable box as well. See if yours can. If not, make sure the monitor/tv has:

-A DVI or VGA input (for your computer)

-Whatever type of inputs you need for your TV stuff- the most common is called Composite Video

Also, make sure that either the screen you get has speakers, or you can connect your TV stuff to your computer speakers.

How good do pc games work with a large lcd or plasma monitor?nba jerseys

That depends on the plasma/lcd's max. resolution. I would hope that a screen of that size can handle 1600x1200 with a good refresh rate!! Generally a CRT monitor can handle higher resolutions, but that doesn't mean the picture quality is better. You also have to take dpi into consideration (dots-per-square-inch).

I prefer crt's for gaming IMHO. They are huge and weigh a crapload, but they have high resolutions, you usually can get low dpi's (.19-.23), and they are TONS cheaper for the sizes...a 21" crt with over a 2000x1900 rez and .21dpi runs you about $550...try finding one that cheap as an lcd/plasma.

They also have computers with up to 4 gb of RAM! But you need a 64-bit operating system to have 4 gb of RAM I hear, so let's not get into that.

Hope you find this information helpful.

Would That Computer Make A GOOD Gaming Unit???????????????????

Do you think it looks good and worth the money????????

Well the graphics will not do well for gaming. You could spend about $150 and get a good graphics card to put in there. I would say 7950 gtx Nvidia or Radeon X1950 PRO . I personally do not think it is worth the money. At the moment I stay away from the duo cores and quads since it really does not help in most games out there at the moment. A great 3.0 intel process does a great job with a high L2 cache. Also a good motherboard makes a difference. If you are decent with computers or have some friends who are Ebay has a ton of great deals, just know the stats you are looking for. If you want some build ideas feel free to e-mail me. I do not do cutting edge expensive, I do solid been out for a year and puts down great solid numbers for all types of games.

Well - it seems pretty good, although expensive - the price seems reasonable for those specs but I wouldn't need all those features.
there is no grafix card. you will need another 3-500$ for a good card.
i guess you didnt read my other answer on your other question. Core 2 Quads are more for music encoding, burning movies at quick speeds. seriously you do not need a core 2 quad for gaming. like i said previously, you may want to build your own pc , but if you're not going to build your own computer, atleast dont buy a factory made one yet, processor prices are going to go way down. just wait a month or two.
