There are far fewer viruses for the mac then the PC. This is for two reasons:
1: Mac computers control less then 10% of the computer industry, so it is kind of a waste to create a virus for such a small industry and
2: Microsoft Windows is much less secure then mac. With a PC, you need a firewall, anti-virus, and several anti-spyware programs. I've never seen any of that stuff on the macs and the school I used to go to, but the PCs all had it.

1 virus for Macs was recently discovered but to get it u needed 2 go 2 a dodgy website, register 2 a dodgy thing, download a dodgy file and install a dodgy program. a little common sense will save u from viruses with Macs.

the other reason there r few is cuz the script 4 Macs is constantly altering and its impossible 2 havea virus that sustains all versions. plus, unlike Windows, they dont do anytin. Itll bring up an annoying pop up or sumtin, unlike Windows where it deletes files or reformats ur HD.

yes there right 15 years and many macs running no real problems ...one windows laptop and nothing but problems it just sits on a shellf now everyone got the new g4 laptops ...
i think micosoft builds in the problems ...so it can charge for all the virus programms

Mac ads are biased. While there aren't nearly as many viruses or bad things for macs, they do exist.
Macs do have security holes. They have to fix them from time to time. The main reason that the virus writers don't write as many MACs viruses is that they as so few of them in the world and they can get more bang for the buck on Windows machines.
True, but if a MAC breaks down for another reason, then instead of fixing it yourself, you have to hire a guy who works for Apple to come and fix it, which is a big inconvenience, also MAC's are much, much more expensive.
It is true, though I can't fully explain why. Neither myself nor anyone I know who uses a MAC (lots) have ever been been affected by a virus. Could it be that there are simply fewer MACs in use than PC's, and virus writers go after the big game? I really don't know.
There is not enough macs for anyone to spend time making a viruse for them. 90% of computers are PCs. There was a guy who made a trojan just to prove mac are unsecure
From my 20+ years of experience with Mac -- yes! We have never had a problem with viruses at my house. Okay, we also use the firewalls available,and we don't use MS apps, like Office, or Outlook. I don't visit questionable websites, I block popups, I disable html and graphics in my mail, and I don't open mail from people I don't know, and I don't accept attachments uless I know what it is.
Most of the mac virus issues my friends have dealt with over the years had something to do with Outlook, or an IM program. (I don't use those either.) If viruses are a real problem for you, you might really enjoy a mac -- because in our experience, they aren't as likely to get viruses and malware infections.
There are VERY few virsus for Mac computers, and since Mac OS X is not compatable with Windows, Macs don't get Windows virsus. The likelyhood of getting a Mac virus is very low compared to getting a PC virus.
You should still have a firewall of some sort protecting your network or your computer because there are Mac virsus, and Macs are not hack proof.
thats true but it is true cuz mac isnt as popular as windows so hackers dosent focus on macs and ther are less programs for mac so that reduces the probability of downloading program with virus (mac sucks) but if u like the mac pc look u coul download an enchance program and make ur windows look as a mac

the only reason there aren't more viruses on Macs is because there are less Mac users - why would a hacker waste his time trying to infect a few thousand, when he could infect millions using Windows based PC's?
I hate those commercials - they're trying to sell people on style, over substance. They just try to take every common misconception people have about computers, and use that to sell a few extra Macs.
That is correct, for two reasons:
1. There are far fewer Macs (5 percent market share) so virus writers don't bother making them and
2. The system is more secure because a master password must be entered before a program is installed.
Additionaly, PC's are just as capable of playing movies and songs as Macs. PC's are usually outfitted with the right software to do those out of the box, just like Macs. Additionaly, PCs have more space for additional hardware (such as graphics cards and extra RAM) than a Mac does. There is a sacrifice to be made for size when it comes to computers.
Macs don't catch as many viruses simply because why go through the trouble of making them? It's a long wait for a train don't come.
